Landmarks, Lakes, Rivers
Lake Nipissing is located between the Ottawa River and Georgian Bay. Lake Nipissing is the third-largest lake entirely in Ontario. It is relatively shallow for a large lake, with an average depth of only 4.5 m (15 ft). The shallowness of the lake makes for many sandbars along the lake's irregular shoreline. The lake reaches a maximum depth of 64 m (210 ft) near the mouth of the French River.
North Bay is located in North-Eastern Ontario. It takes its name from its position on the shore of Lake Nipissing. North Bay developed as a railroad center, and its airport was an important military location during the Cold War.
Lake Temagami - located 80 km north of North Bay and features over 1200 islands and is surrounded by some of the largest tracks of old-growth forrest in the province.
Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater - is a remote wilderness park in North-Eastern Ontario, north of Lake Temagami. It is one of five provincial parks located in the Temagami area. It offers protection to some of the last remaining stands of old growth forest in Ontario, and is home to the endangered Aurora Trout.
the French River flows between Lake Nippissing and Georgian Bay and covers over 100km and is dotted with channels and islands. "The French" is a multi-species paradise with excellent fishing for Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Musky.
Trout Lake is the source of the Mattawa River and offers excellent fishing for Salmon, Lake Trout, Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike.
