Landmarks, Lakes, Rivers

  • Ottawa River flows through large areas of deciduous and coniferous forest formed over thousands of years as trees recolonized the Ottawa Valley after the ice age. The Ottawa River is well known as one of the best places to fish in North America, Muskellunge being the second largest species next to the Sturgeon. Get a pole and hold on here.

  • Lake Timiskaming: The name is from the Algonquin Temikami or Temiskaming, meaning "deep body of water with rapid winds'. There are 30 species of fish in Lake Timiskaming, the best known are Northern Pike, Sturgeon, Lake Trout, Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Bullhead Catfish, Carp, Burbot (poor mans Lobster), Perch, and Whitefish.

  • The Ottawa River rapids are rated as (Class 3 to 5), but at any water level, the River provides some of the best whitewater rafting in Ontario. There are numerous outfitters to provide you with the experience along the river.
