  • Chapleau Crown Game Preserve - is an animal preserve area north-east of Lake Superior. It covers some 7,000 square kilometers (2,700 sq mi) in the Algoma and Sudbury districts, and is officially classified as a Crown Game Preserve by the Government of Ontario and Ministry of Natural Resources. All animals are protected from hunting and trapping in the preserve since its formation in 1925.

  • Pukaskwa National Park -  located in the heart of Canada’s Boreal Forest ecozone. Common tree species in this area include Black Spruce, White Spruce, Jack Pine, Trembling Aspen, Eastern White Cedar, and White Birch. Many plants that grow inside Pukaskwa National Park are typically found in Arctic alpine regions, Black Bears, Moose, Beavers, Peregrine Falcons, River Otters, Lynx and Timber Wolves are found in this park. The park is also home to bald eagles.

  • The Shoals Provincial Park, straddling Highway 101 west of Chapleau, contains significant post-glacial landscapes and wetlands. The Shoals Provincial Park and Windermere-Goldie Lake Conservation Reserve together protect nearly 30,000 hectares of northern lakes and forest. No vehicle access.Map
